The jazz band is an auditioned group that begins in late October. There will be two weeks of training sessions during the jazz band rehearsal time to allow students to become accustomed to this style of music prior to the auditions. Auditions/chair placements will be held as needed. |
| Jazz Band meets from 3:20-4:00 on Wednesdays, and 7:30 to 8:10 on Thursdays. This schedule should allow the least amount of conflict possible with other activities. The jazz band will learn the basics of jazz playing and be exposed to music of a variety of jazz styles. | |
The jazz band's performances will include concerts and contest/festivals. The Howar Jazz Band also performs at the annual Big Band Dance with the high school jazz bands. These dates are included in the handbook. |
